Anne Hathaway Is Like a Mom to Amanda Seyfried

The old saying "art imitates life" seems to be true for the stars of Les Miserables, as Anne Hathaway has become something of a mother figure for Amanda Seyfried. Also in today's movie news: Trailers from two of the most anticipated films of 2013, casting news on the Transformers 4 front, Tom Cruise on Jack Reacher, and the best of the week's DVD releases.

Amanda Seyfried & Anne Hathaway's Friendship Is A Lot Like Les Miserables
Judging by the photos from their red carpet events, Les Miserables costars Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried have become pretty good friends. But despite being peers, their characters' mother-daughter bond in Les Mis may have crossed over into their real-life relationship.

When THR caught up with Seyfried at the New York premiere, the actress gushed over her castmate. "She's three years older than me, but she's a very maternal, graceful woman that it's hard not to have these kind of warm feelings for her," Seyfried said. "She's very maternal. She's got to have kids at some point. She'd be the perfect mother."

Hathaway's maternal nature must be rubbing off on Seyfried, because she also took a shine to Isabelle Allen, the young actress who plays the 10-year-old version of Seyfried's Cosette. "We're email buddies now," said Seyfried. "She's effortless, and it's so wonderful to watch somebody come into this world so bright-eyed, and she's really taking it well. ... She's the perfect poster-child for Les Mis."
